Marg Roberts gave us an excellent April workshop. Her focus was sound in poetry – how it can be used for effect and how it can be represented on the page. She later moved on to how we might give a ‘voice’ to things which can’t speak for themselves. It was a stimulating and enjoyable morning.
She used a thoughtful selection of poetry as starting points: Pied Beauty – Gerard Manley Hopkins, The Loch Ness Monster’s Song – Edwin Morgan, Look We Have Coming To Dover – Daljit Nagra, Anthem For Doomed Youth – Wilfred Owen, Glasgow Sonnets I – Edwin Morgan, Sciurus Carolinensis – Mimi Khalvati, After the Funeral – Anne Stevenson.
